About AzeriConverter

In order to make sure that the MS Office programs process correctly the Azerbaijani texts, all your Azerbaijani documents must be in Unicode. However, there are other encoding standards, such as ASCII and UTF-8. AzeriConverter is used, first of all, to convert the Azerbaijani texts from other standards into Unicode, which is necessary for spell-checking of those texts.

Using AzeriConverter

To begin working with AzeriConverter, you should first open a document in your MS Word. To change the encoding, please run the menu option «File —> Open document...» . The program will automatically analyze the fonts in the document you have opened and display their list in its window:

Now you can specify the converter for the font selected, i.e. specify the recoding parameters for the whole text of the document that uses this font. No other text or its format will be affected. This means that you can only recode the document portion whose encoding has to be changed. This necessity may arise if, for example, the document has portions in different languages.

Recoding parameters for the font selected can be set up in the «Convert —> Set converter» , or you can simply click the font name. The following window will open up:

The «Source font» field has the font name for which recoding will be performed.

In the «Destination font» field, please specify the target font. It may appear necessary if the source font does not support the target encoding type.

In the «Source codepage» field, please specify the source encoding type.
Attention! The program will try automatically to detect the source encoding type, so you don't have to update this field value in most cases.

In the «Destination codepage» field, please specify the target encoding type.
Attention! AzeriSpellchecker will work correctly if you select the Unicode Cyrillic or Unicode Latin encoding.

Fields «Before convert» and «After convert» display a text portion before and after encoding, respectively.

You can re-specify the parameters you have specified, or you can delete them using the «Convert —> Clear converter» command .

After all the parameters for all the fonts have been specified, you can start encoding. Please select «Convert —> Convert document» in the menu. The program will prompt you for the destination path and file name to save the resulting document. After this, encoding will be performed, and the resulting document will be opened in your MS Word.
Attention! Encoding will take some time if the source document is large.

Working with the profiles in AzeriConverter

The profiles are designed for simplifying operating large numbers of documents that require the same kind of processing. The profile contains the data on the converters, which then can be activated with a single click on the profile name. The panel of the profiles is used to work with the profiles:

Buttons in the panel of the profiles:

  • «Create profile» - creates a profile based on the converters set up in the current document.
  • «Rename profile» - lets you change the name of the selected profile.
  • «Edit profile» - opens up the profile editing window:
This windows displays all the converters included in the profile being edited. They can be created, edited, and deleted.
  • «Delete profile» - deletes the selected profile.
  • «Apply profile» - sets up the converters included in the profile of the opened document. The same can be performed with a single click on the profile name.
  • «Renew profile» - adds to the profile the data on the converters in the opened document. You can easily update profiles using this command.
  • «Change path to profiles» - displays the folder selection window, in which you are supposed to save the profiles. By default, the profiles are saved to the user's document folder in the «AzeriConverter profiles» subfolder. The profile files have extension xml.
